Hi,
I have decided to write a property investment blog. However before I start I am going to tell you a little about myself and why I am writing this blog.
First and foremost I am a property investor. I started investing in 1996 buying my first terrace in Ashton under Lyne. I was very worried about the prospect of becoming a landlord - what would happen if the house burnt down or if the tenant didn't pay the rent? Eventually after a year and a half of research I took the plunge and purchased a full renovated 3 bed mid terrace for £35K. The rent was £350, so it worked out at a 10% return. This cleared several hundred pounds a month and so a purhased another and another.... until I built myself a medium sized portfolio of Northern terraces. During this time I was working for Tesco in their Marketing and Commercial departments. Friends and family started to notice what I was doing and asked me to buy property for them as I seemed to know what I was doing. I realised that this could become a business so in 2004 I left London and moved to the Manchester area. I have now sourced 400 properties for clients. I am also involved with a lettings company called Active Letting who operate nationwide from two offices in Manchester and London. In addition to this I am also a DEA (Domestic Energy Assessor - can create Energy Performance Certificates) and run the pin Hammersmith network meeting (2nd Wed of each month).
I have been told that writing a blog is a good way to connect with like minded people to expand my network and client base - so here goes!
Regards, Fraser
